CAO Flathead V450 Sparkplug

Cigar Reviewed: CAO Flathead V450 Sparkplug

Smoked at: Bay St. Louis, Mississippi

Last night my wife and I were at Tripletails in Bay St. Louis one of our favorite spots. We sat on the third floor balcony open air live band good food and no problem lighting up. I had the steak sandwich always a solid choice there and after we ate I lit up a CAO Flathead V450 Sparkplug 4.5 x 50 box pressed with that squared off head inspired by American muscle cars.

It looks like a quick smoke but this little powerhouse runs longer than you would expect. I got about 45 minutes out of it even with a few relights from the breeze coming off the bay. The burn needed some attention but the flavor stayed consistent. Dark chocolate and molasses early on and espresso creeping in around the halfway mark. There is a lot packed into this short vitola some grit some sweetness and a lot of torque under the hood.

A few people nearby even mentioned how great it smelled. I am usually cautious lighting up around a crowd but we were in a proper cigar friendly section with ashtrays already out so I did not think twice. It fit the mood.

That said the heavy profile did not pair well with the humid coastal air. It was not a bad smoke just maybe not the best fit for a Mississippi summer night. I might try it again when the weather cools off.

Rating 3.5 out of 5 stars

Strong draw great aroma and a lot of flavor but not one I would keep stocked for the heat.
