Smoked: Caldwell Lost & Found Paradise Lost

Smoked at: West Chester, Ohio

Caldwell Lost & Found Paradise Lost is a medium bodied offering with a butter, pepper, coffee, cocoa, cedar and minimal notes of spice. Tastes like nutmeg to me. The pepper kicks up a bit during the second third and the cedar transitions into more oakiness.

The cigar has a nice draw, light smoke output, firm grey ash and an uneven burn line under which there was a crack in the wrapper about halfway through the smoke. This disappeared after a few minutes, but the wrapper was ever so slightly loose from the binder for the remainder of the smoke. Now this may have been collateral damage from the cigar reamer when the draw tightened up at the midway point. Either way, the construction loses points.

As much as I enjoy most of Caldwell’s Lost & Founds, this cigar was disappointing – very average at best. I thought about a 3.5 which is not possible on the Cigar World scale, but the more I considered a score I have to give it a 3 on flavor. The cigar wasn’t bad or even meh, but there were no really memorable moments during the experience. I’m glad I tried it. At least I get to put a check mark next to it on the Lost & Found bucket list.
