Smoked at: Wetherington, Ohio
Black Label Trading Company Santa Muerte uses small batch Dominican, Nicaraguan and Mexican San Andres filler, an Ecuador Habano binder, and an oily dark brown Ecuador Habano wrapper.
From my research, the cigar is named for a Mexican spiritual charm for Holy Death, i.e. guidance and protection in death into the Promised Land.
Cedar, dark roast coffee, spice with pepper dominating at times, pecans, vanilla cream and chocolate with hints of herbal & floral notes, dough/bread, and/dried fruit (rasins). It’s medium bodied and medium strength.
Construction gets an A-plus: excellent open draw with just the right amount of resistance, solid smoke production, spot-on even burn line, and white ash that defied the advice of 38 Special and held on tightly to a full inch, tapped off on command.
The Santa Muerte is another winner – just what I’ve come to expect from Black Label Trading Company. Flavors galour, balance and complexity. Glad I stopped by a cigar shop I rarely visit where I discovered this BLTC.
