Cigar Reviewed: Nub by Oliva Single Roast

Smoked at: Carolinas

I had tried the Nub Nuance Triple Roast, and thought I'd try the Single Roast today. There is a whole line of Nubs, and all of them are very good, but the Nuance line is infused. Not my usual preference, but occasionally it's a break from the usual. While the Triple Roast was full of bold espresso flavor, the Single Roast was more like a latte. The tip is sweetened, and smooth coffee and cream, with occasional hints of vanilla and cocoa dominate the flavor throughout the smoke. I was disappointed that my wrapper split mid smoke, and quickly unraveled from the rest of the cigar, but I was able to smoke and enjoy the rest of it with just the binder and part of the wrapper still intact. Although short, the Nubs can give you a 45 to 60 minute smoke if you allow them to burn slowly. The ash is gray and long. The draw is a little tighter than I like, but not bad. I probably wouldn't buy the Single Roast again, but I'm glad I tried it.
