Cigar Reviewed: Aging Room Quattro Nicaragua

Smoked at: South New Jersey

Wrapper has a light cocoa, light chocolate, and faint barnyard smell to it. Cold draw has just a faint cocoa. Appearance is a dark slightly oily wrapper with tight seams, and minimal veins. At light up the draw is slightly snug with average smoke output. You get a fairly thick slighty oily smoke. Flavors are cocoa and some black coffee with some mild pepper spice. Strength is about a 5-6, and its medium to full body. First 3rd is cocoa, black coffee, pepper, with a very minimal earth. Note there is no gritiness to the earth flavors. Draw is still fairly tight, but with a double puff you can get a fair amount of smoke. Burn is fairly straight. Ash is a nice solid light grey. On the retrohale you get black pepper with cayenne to it. Second 3rd had a little bit of sweetness come through with some black coffee, and mild earthy notes come through. Black pepper is at about 6-7. Retrohale has smoothed out with slight pepper with cocoa. Final 3rd still some slight sweetness, black coffee, cocoa, and chocolate notes. Also getting some of that nicaraguan spice now coming through.Strength is starting to pick up slighty. Burn is still fairly straight with a nice solid light grey ash. Smoke is starting to get warm with about an inch left to the cigar. Stopped with about 3/4 of an inch left which at this point I started to get bitter notes. I only used club soda to help cleanse my palate. So that I could get all the flavors without adding any extra flavors to it. It would pair very well with any medium strength coffee or a nice coffee stout. Overall I would probably rate this cigar at a 93. This cigar was a very good cigar minus the slightly tight draw which may be due to the box press. Construction was overall pretty good I did touch up just around the edges when I noticed the filler was burning slightly faster than the wrapper. Which could be solved by just letting the cigar sit out of the humidor for about 30 mins. before smoking.
