A Mellow Masterpiece

Cigar Reviewed: Freedom by Rocky Patel

Smoked at: Long Beach, MS

The Rocky Patel Freedom Connecticut really surprised me in the best way. It’s a mellow-to-medium-bodied cigar that delivers a smooth, flavorful experience from start to finish — and it punches well above its price point.

Right out of the gate, the flavors were creamy and inviting. I picked up notes of cedar and toasted almonds, followed by a soft cocoa sweetness and just a little hint of spice. About halfway through, there was even a subtle citrusy note that kept the profile interesting without being overwhelming. It stayed balanced the whole way, never getting harsh or bitter.

Construction was excellent. The draw was spot-on — nice and open — and the burn line stayed straight the entire smoke. I didn’t need a single touch-up, and the ash held firm for about an inch at a time. The Connecticut wrapper had a clean, smooth look to it, giving the cigar a classic and appealing presentation.

The Freedom Connecticut is the kind of cigar you could easily smoke any time of day, whether you’re just starting out or just looking for something easygoing and flavorful. It’s approachable without being boring, and it shows Rocky Patel’s consistency when it comes to making high-quality cigars at an affordable price.

Smooth, flavorful, flawless construction. I always keep a few of these on hand.
