Thursday in Estelí was all about exploring the roots and passion behind Nicaraguan tobacco.

The day began with a warm welcome at Plasencia’s factory, where we were greeted by the staff and a group of children from Plasencia’s school, who handed out charming handmade souvenirs. The tour took us to the San Benito farm, where we witnessed the full cycle of tobacco—from compost to seeds to young crops. At La Caridad, we walked through a sea of sun-grown tobacco. We also visited a top-secret aging room, where tobacco from every harvest is archived.

Néstor Andrés Plasencia guided the tour, sharing his deep knowledge and passion for the biology of the soil and the composting process. Lunch at their estate was equally memorable, blending delicious food with a perfect atmosphere.

In the afternoon, we toured A.J. Fernandez’s impressive facilities. A children’s troupe of folkloric dancers and AJ’s father welcomed us, while refreshments and swag packs set the tone. Mario Ruiz led us through the massive operation, and we even got a special treat—Rafael Nodal joined us and provided insights into the 20-year-aged wrapper used for the Montecristo M.

The day ended with the much-anticipated White Party at El Fumador, part of Oliva’s Las Mesitas facility. Local dancers and musicians lit up the night as we danced, celebrated, and enjoyed four premium cigars from Drew Estate, Oliva, Cuban Rounds, and Perdomo, handed out during the event.

With expectations high, we eagerly look forward to the final day, featuring a tour of My Father Cigars and the grand gala!
