I jumped into this Foundation stick while doing a humidor inventory. Everything else looked solid, but this one had a small hole with a slight dip in the wrapper nothing major, but enough to raise the usual concern: simple handling damage… or the dreaded cigar beetle paranoia we all get.
I checked the rest of the humidor and didn’t see any other signs, but to be safe I pulled this cigar and the ones surrounding it, isolated them, and decided to smoke this one now rather than risk it. So far, no issues at all.
Classic Foundation performance earthy, dark chocolate, leather, and a balanced pepper profile. Burn and draw have been solid despite the cosmetic flaw. I paired it with a mixed tequila and honestly wasn’t expecting it to work this well, but it ended up being a great pairing.
I’ll see how it behaves deeper into the middle, but as usual, Foundation hasn’t disappointed. What do you all think possible beetle activity, or just minor damage from being sold as a single?

(19 days ago)Have occasionally come across a hole like that, always wondered about a beetle too. Cigars always smoked ok and it’s maybe only happened twice in all the years.

(14 days ago)Yeah, I did cut it open at the last bit, and it was okay. Just me assuming too much, but I definitely enjoyed the smoke. Maybe it was behind my head, and I kept assuming I'd see something run out, lol

(20 days ago)Looks like slight damage. Those are good but pricey.

(14 days ago)Yeah, pricey for sure, but I got a nice pack from one of the other local stores. I guess he was having issues selling them. Don't know how much I got them for, but I'm happy. I saved myself close to 40% on the box and a few separated ones, plus some other foundation cigar line, which so far I've been very happy with.
