New World Decenio

Smoked: New World Decenio

New World Decenio Robusto is an AJ Fernandez blend commemorating the 10th anniversary of New World cigars using Nicaraguan & Honduran filler, a Nicaraguan binder and enveloped in an oily Mexican San Andres wrapper with some visible veins. It’s box pressed with a beautiful colorful primary band of gold on navy lbue with the New World pic, a slender gold and navy blue secondary band declaring its name “Decenio” and a gold footer with “AJ” embossed.

Flavors: oak, hay, earthy minerals (chalk), leather, almonds, spice, pepper, and hints of coffee and bread. The second third introduces notes of licorice, heavier dose of pepper (more than fits my taste but I can live with it), and darker coffee and both dark and milk chocolate The wood turns charred and now tastes more like cedar. You can also add nutmeg as well as walnuts with the almonds in the mix. I detect a couple of puffs of herbal and floral in there too. This cigar is wood and grassy hay earth mineral-driven. Interesting flavors –It’s balanced and complex. Let’s rate it medium bodied and strength.

Perfect open draw, a solid smoke density, burn line went askew a few times requiring touchups, and the white ash although a little flaky held well enough not to dock points.

New World Decenio – Spanish for decade – is a worthy anniversary salute to one of the most popular AJ Fernandez offerings.
