Blackbird Meadowlark Short Run Toro Is made with a Dominican binder and filler and covered in a Brazilian Arapiraca wrapper with numerous visible veins. The band is black on yellow with the trademark logo in the corner and “Blackbird Cigar Co.” in silver on black at the top. I don’t recall ever recognizing a Meadlowlark in the wild, but it’s supposedly a yellow feathered bird.
Blackbird has a Harlem Globetrotter vibe going with this cigar. To stay up-to-date, Blackbird should also honor the star athlete of the Savannah Bananas, whoever that person is.
Flavors: oak, earth, leather, spice, dark roast coffee, and milk chocolate with backdrop notes of tea, herbs and almonds. The flavors balance despite no real transitions. There’s mellow spice, mild pepper on the retrohale. It’s medium to medium-full bodied and strength.
Relatively even burn line, solid smoke production, ash that held firm to almost an inch before rolling off, and a fairly even burn line that required one touchup.
Blackbird Meadowlark Short Run didn’t wow me, but it has interesting rich flavors for an enjoyable smoke. .Next time I’ll listen to Sweet Georgia Brown while smoking this cigar. .
