The Top Chinese New Year Cigars: Year of the Horse 2026

For many years, cigar makers have celebrated the Chinese New Year with a multitude of limited-edition releases. Not only is this a time for cigar brands to experiment with new blends and sizes, but it also affords a unique opportunity to create stunning boxes and bands just for this specific occasion. With the Year of the Horse upon us, here are the top Chinese New Year cigars we’re excited about in 2026.

Davidoff Year of the Horse Flagship Exclusive Limited Edition 2026

Davidoff makes a point of delivering an exquisite, limited-edition cigar for every Chinese New Year, and we can’t wait to try their new Year of the Horse release. Featuring a mix of Ecuadorian and Dominican tobaccos, the Davidoff Year of the Horse offers a medium-to-full-bodied smoking experience defined by notes of cream, chocolate, and roasted hazelnuts. Note, it retails for $65 a cigar.

Aladino Year of the Horse 2026

While some brands, like Davidoff, have a long-established tradition of releasing Chinese New Year cigars, others, such as Aladino, are just now getting in on the action. However, we couldn’t overlook this eye-catching release that features Honduran tobacco grown by the legendary Eiroa family. (Sad news for any U.S. fans, though, as this release is an Asia exclusive.)

Plasencia El Año del Caballo

On pure looks alone, the Plasencia El Año de Cabello gets massive style points for including a “horse tail” tobacco string extending from the cap of this striking cigar. The fact that it’s crafted entirely from premium Nicaraguan and Honduran tobaccos makes it all the more enticing.

Punch Egg Roll XL

Not every Chinese New Year cigar of 2026 is about horses. Punch Cigars has a history of releasing food-themed cigars for the Chinese New Year, and they’re bringing back an old favorite this time around. Punch Egg Roll XL features the same blend as Punch Egg Roll (released in 2019), but now in a bigger, 6 X 60 size. Check it out if you loved the original Egg Roll or if you want a great limited-edition for under $10.

VegaFina Year of the Horse 2026

VegaFina chose to honor the Paso Higueyano, a breed of horse native to the Dominican Republic, for their Chinese New Year release. The blend features an Ecuadorian wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder, and fillers from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. Unsurprisingly, it was crafted in the Dominican Republic.
