When it comes to cigar tasting notes, “spice” can mean a number of things. Some cigars contain spicy tasting notes, i.e., pepper or even something hotter like cayenne. Cigars with Habano wrappers have a reputation for this kind of spice.
On the other hand, some cigars may be “spicy” in a different way and contain notes of cinnamon, clove, or cumin. Note that spices tend to play a supporting role in the overall flavor profile of these cigars.
Cigars with heavy spice notes are usually darker and possess more nicotine strength. (Though, as with the case with all things, exceptions do exist.) One interesting factor to consider is that cigars with lots of hot spice may also contain sweet notes like chocolate or coffee.
