Licorice may be a divisive cigar tasting note, but it is one that appears in multi-layered smokes. Note here that few cigars have an overpowering element of licorice; rather, cigars with licorice tasting notes tend to have a chewy or toothy mouthfeel.
However, some cigars do contain a distinctive tang of licorice (or black licorice). Complementary notes that usually accompany licorice are herbs, cream, and sweetness. Cigars with licorice in the flavor profile are just as likely to be mellow as they are to be darker and full-bodied.
