Tatuaje Saints & Sinners Member Exclusive 2017 was a gift from my Tatuaje buddy Bob. Neither of us know precious little about the background, stats and specs other than it’s a Nicaraguan – would Pete use anything else? It’s a box-pressed Robusto so it’s probably Blend 4 and we believe it’s a Broadleaf wrapper. The single band features the Saints & Sinners logo in red with white lettering “Member Exclusive” on black with a white backdrop.

Hickory, spice, pepper, mossy earth, leather, milk chocolate and espresso with occasional hits of sweet tobacco. Yup! It’s a Pete Johnson Broadleaf blend even if he wants it remain “undisclosed.” I kept waiting for more flavors, some balance, transitions. Nada! The flavors never really balanced with zero complexity. The flavor profile was OK but never blossomed into the Tatuaje I had anticipated it would become.

Construction: tight draw, precious little smoke production, and an extremely erratic, caddywampus (been waiting for a chance to use that word) burn line. The torch was working overtime.

The Saints & Sinners Member Exclusive 2017 was a disappointing experience, especially for a Tatuaje.
