Smoked: Tatuaje CRA 2022
Smoked at: West Chester, Ohio
A gift from a Saints & Sinners member (I really should join the club) so I’m not sure exactly what to call this stick. It is a CRA series and according to the S&S friend, it’s “limited edition” from the 2022 CRA lineup.
Ir’a a Nicaraguan box pressed with what appears to be a Sumatran wrapper – smooth with slightly raised veins. .The cigar features two bands – a narrow silver & white Tatuaje band and a Cigar Rights of America brown, silver and pale white secondary band.
Let’s fire it up and see what it’s got. Wood, pepper spice, mixed nuts, musty earth, leather, a touch of coffee and herbs at times…and that’s really it. No transitions. Little to no complexity. However, there is some balance to the flavors – minimal thought they may be. The retrohale is heavy wood and heavier pepper.
Construction: good open draw, wavy burn line, solid smoke output, and medium grey ash that held fairly well.
The Tatuaje CRA ia a decent stick, just not up to Tatuaje standards in my opinion. I do expect more from a Tat. My Saints & Sinners cigar buddy smoked one recently as well. When we compared notes, our assessments were similar.
