It's hot and humid out. Mid day. Not as humid as it could be but it's on par for a DC summer.
Yella cella on this guy. Real yella.
Used a punch and butane. Cold draw is sweet leather and chocolatey tobacco. God damn I wish I had a nice glass of tawny port to keep me company on the journey ahead.
1/3:
Lights up pretty much perfectly. The pull is smooth and light... almost effortless but not lacking in the cloud department. Cloudy with a chance of chocolate bars. There's a very noticeable sweetness that's just slinging toffee brittle into every tastebud. Just wow. The smoke is light and airy but packed with flavor. Getting very mild hay in the back ground. Just delicious. Never had a cigar this sweet. By the end of this third the smoke looks to be auditioning for a fog cannon position in an Ibiza night club.
2/3:
Sweet toffee is still the hottest chick on the dance floor but her friends Leather and Cardamom just showed up and they're starting steal some of the spotlight. And deservedly so.
Further down and there's an ever so faint green tea herbyness lingering on my buds. Loving these complexities.
The burn has started to go a little lopsided but that's no big deal after a quick touch up. Just a tiny pinch of white pepper but nothing harsh (which is good because I'm not big on peppery sticks). Some Creamy tobacco, oatmeal, and cinnamon joining the fray now.
I've ashed twice as I get down to the final third, each holding strong at \~1.5". Great construction, Señor Padrón!
3/3:
There's the pepper I knew was coming. Not enough to scare me away, but enough to check me. Tastes like fresh, yeasty, Brioche. Not so sweet anymore. Feels like I started the tasting menu with the dessert course and have now moved on to the mains. But I'm ok with that - my palette is now primed.
Now I'll be honest, I'm not big on nubbing (sacrilege, I know). But this guy has me feeling like I should toke till the wheels fall off. So I shall... I can tell there was love put into this stick and I'd feel bad if I didn't take the time to appreciate that.
Not much changes as I make my way down to the last bit. A mellow and enjoyable farewell.
Bon voyage friend and thanks for the inverted dinner. Let's do this again sometime.
Final notes:
Fantastic cigar. This thing is obviously top teir in flavor and construction. Great (mostly) even burn the whole way through, billowing smoke output, and delicious flavor and complexity. This was a treat.
