Oliva Serie V Lancero

Cigar Reviewed: Oliva Serie V

First time smoking an Oliva Serie V and first time smoking a Lancero. I was pretty excited to smoke this stick as I have seen so much about this line and brand of cigar as I’ve been getting into my cigar smoking journey. The stick was a rich dark caramel color and had a nice shine to it. The cold draw on the cigar reminded me of chocolate cake and I was confirmed in that by my non smoker wife as well as she took multiple cold draws on it and was drooling from it! The first third on this stick was probably my favorite as it smoked the most consistent and had great flavors of that dark chocolate taste, cinnamon, and some pepper. I also got a finish of buttercream a few times. Unfortunately though it was an exteremly windy day and with such a slim smoke I continuously ran into uneven burning, cigar nearly going out partially or completely between puffs. Near the final third I was getting very earthy tones of almost like piles of fall leaves and at points a urine like taste as well, but that could be due to the relights and harder puffing to keep it going. I am definitely going to try the Lancero again but on a calmer day or in the garage. Also, excited to try different vitolas of the Serie V line. Overall though it was exciting with quite a few transitions early on and massive thick smoke output.
