Smoked: Micallef Migdalia with Burwood Canadian Single Hive Honey Bourbon
Smoked at: Fairfield, Ohio
Micallef Migdalia uses Nicaraguan and Dominican filler, a Mexican Sumatra binder and a slightly oily Mexican San Andres wrapper with thin seams and veins.
The primary band red on dark blue with a knight’s head & symbols and the Micallef shield logo. The slim secondary band is light grey on gold stating “Migdalia.” Just for drill, the name is Spanish for “tower.”
Wood, mossy earth and mineral (slate), cocoa/milk chocolate, baking spices, and pepper front and center. Secondary notes transition into the second third with floral, Pernot-tasting licorice, and citrus. There’s a good array of flavors in balance and with rich complexity. Ir’s full-bodied and medium strength.
The draw is a tad tight – a touch more resistance, please - a toothpick poke opened it up. The smoke was abundant, thick solid ash held well, and the burn line was consistently even.
In my experience so far, Micallef generally does an excellent job on flavors with smaller vitolas. This cigar is loaded with numerous flavors, balanced and complex. What more could you ask of a cigar? There’s a lot to like about Micallef Migdalia.
