Smoked: Micallef Blue
Smoked at: Fairfield, Ohio
Micallef Blue Robusto is made with Dominican & Nicaraguan filler, an Ecuador Habano binder and covered with a slightly toothy brown Mexican San Andres Sumatra wrapper with some veinage. The band is dark blue with a Crusader knight crest shield and the name “Micallef” in silvery gold lettering. It’s a classy-looking band.
Oak, mossy musty earth, mineral notes – slate, mild pepper along with secondary notes of coffee and spice and a puff or two of licorice. It’s medium-bodied and strength pushing medium-full by the final third. The flavors are minimal in number but it’s balanced.
Construction – tight draw that opened up with a couple of toothpick pokes, ever so wavy burn line that I did cosmetically touchup twice – more me being a perfectionist than anything actually wrong with the burn, strong smoke output, and dark grey ash that held reasonably well.
Micallef Blue is a better than average cigar. It’s not complex but it was an enjoyable smoke.
