Macanudo Vintage Maduro

Cigar Reviewed: Macanudo Vintage Maduro 1997

Smoked at: St charles

This was my first time trying this stick and it left a real impression. Right off the bat, you notice the solid build firm in the hand with that unique metal band that makes it stand out. The aroma was deep and earthy, with hints of cocoa and cedar before lighting.

The draw started a little tight but quickly opened up, releasing smooth clouds of smoke with maduro sweetness, roasted coffee, and a touch of dark chocolate. There’s a subtle spice that lingers on the finish, nothing overwhelming, just enough to keep the flavor layered and interesting.

What really impressed me was the construction razor-straight burn, no touch-ups, and the ash held strong. It’s definitely a slow burner, easily stretching 1.5 to 2 hours, which is rare for me in this size. That makes it more of an “event cigar” than a quick session stick, perfect for relaxing at a get-together or after a heavy meal.

I paired it with a tea-based liquor drink, and the combination was excellent. The tea’s clean notes cut through the richness of the smoke, balancing out the heavier cocoa and wood tones.

Overall, this cigar is about savoring time. It’s bold but smooth, complex without being harsh, and built to last. If you’ve got the time, it’s well worth it.

Great review. Macs are an all around good stick in my book. I usually hit the Inspirado line, never had a bad one.
