Smoked: Liga Privada No. 9
Smoked at: St charles
Tonight’s little smoke was the Liga Privada No. 9. After a long day I finally decided to light one up, and now I understand why people talk about this cigar so much. Bold leather, hints of chocolate and almond, and that peppery kick here and there all on a smooth, steady burn with plenty of creamy smoke. I’m usually a fan of Drew Estate in general, but this one really stood out. Solid stick all the way through and definitely one I’d recommend keeping in the humidor.
A little background for those who might not know: Drew Estate started out small back in Brooklyn and over time became one of the biggest names in the cigar world. What’s cool about the Liga Privada line is that it wasn’t even meant for the public at first it was a private blend the team made for themselves to enjoy. The No. 9 ended up taking on a life of its own because people who tried it kept asking for it.
"Seven different tobaccos from Nicaragua and Honduras, a Brazilian Mata Fina binder, and that dark, oily Connecticut Broadleaf Oscuro wrapper grown here in the States." That mix is what gives it the heavy leather base, the chocolate-almond sweetness, and that little pepper pop that sneaks in between puffs.
