Captain Maduro
Cigar Reviewed: Nub by Oliva Maduro
Smoked at: San Antonio, TX
I picked up a Nub Maduro because I wanted something bold without committing to a two-hour smoke. Right off the bat, the draw is easy and the flavor hits quick—lots of dark chocolate and coffee notes, which I love. It’s smooth, not harsh, and the smoke stays cool even though it’s a chunky cigar.
As you get into it, there’s a little sweetness that fades into more earthy tones and a touch of spice. Nothing crazy, just enough to keep it interesting. The burn is solid, and the ash holds well, so you’re not babysitting it the whole time.
What I like most is the size, it’s short but thick, so you get that big cigar feel without spending your whole afternoon. For me, it’s a great option when I want something rich and flavorful but don’t have a ton of time. Definitely one I’d keep in the rotation.
