H Upmann The Banker Daytrader

Smoked: H Upmann The Banker Daytrader

Smoked at: West Chester, Ohio

H Upmann The Banker Daytrader uses a Nicaraguan binder, Nicaraguan and Dominican filler and an Ecuadoran wrapper with some visible veins. The cigar has two green and gold bands. The primary has the H Upmann Banker logo. The secondary proclaims the cigar a “Daytrader.”

The construction on the Daytrader was reasonable until the final third when it went out on me several times. Relights really distract from the enjoyment for me. The draw was a bit tight requiring a couple of toothpick pokes, the smoke production was decent and the ash did hold well.

Cedar and oak, earth, buttery toasty cracker/bread notes, cream and spice. During the second third, taint background notes of nuts, vanilla and vegetal – kind of grassy, mossy, decaying vegetal – become part of the profile. There are puffs of leather, floral and mineral notes – metal, slate, chalk. The floral hints remind me of the initial aroma of walking into a flower shop. The spice turns increasingly toward pepper as the cigar gains considerable strength during the final third making it difficult to identify some of the aforementioned flavors or any new notes that may – or may not – be there.

I found the Banker Daytrader a very strong cigar. Don’t recall the Annuity having that much strength. Maybe it’s the vitola. It’s actually a Toro Extra. Maybe it’s just me getting wimpy in my old age. In my youth, I could polish off an LFD Double Ligero or Air Bender without breaking a sweat.
