EP Carrillo Black Swan

Smoked: EP Carrillo Black Swan

Smoked at: Wetherington, Ohio

EP Carrillo Black Swan features Nicaraguan, Dominican and Connecticut Broadleaf filler, a San Andres binder and a dry to the touch, toothy Ecuadoran Habano wrapper. It’s marketed as a limited edition, small batch blend. With that combination of tobacco and the Carrillo name on it, I anticipated good things from this cigar.

Flavors: wood, pepper, salty earth, leather, burnt hours-old coffee, and a touch of dried fruit. I kept searching/expecting more flavors but none could be detected. This cigar is a one-trick pony – or a minimal flavor trick pony. It’s a medium-full bodied stick.

As much as I’ve enjoyed the Pledge, Encore, Allegiance and other EP Carrillo cigars, I must say I was quite disappointed in the Black Swan. Negligible flavors, no transitions and zero complexity. This was a “meh” smoking experience.
