Cigar Reviewed: Diesel Backyard Barbecue Series - Pulled Pork
If you're the kind of cigar smoker who enjoys bold flavors and doesn't mind a little novelty in your rotation, the Diesel Backyard BBQ Pulled Pork cigar might surprise you—in a good way.
First off, don’t let the name scare you. This isn't a gimmicky, overly flavored cigar soaked in artificial sweetness. Instead, it’s more of a playful nod to the BBQ concept than a literal smokehouse experience. The aroma out of the cellophane gives off a subtle blend of smoky sweetness, almost like hickory and molasses, but nothing overpowering.
Construction is solid, as you’d expect from Diesel. Firm throughout, decent weight in the hand, and a nice oily wrapper. The pre-light draw gives you a hint of brown sugar and wood, and once lit, you’re met with notes of smoked meat, charred oak, and a touch of spice—almost like a dry rub seasoning. It’s earthy, savory, and balanced with a faint sweetness that never veers into “dessert cigar” territory.
Midway through, the cigar settles into a more traditional Diesel profile: pepper, leather, and a slightly smoky undertone that keeps the BBQ theme alive without being over the top. The finish is long and savory. Burn and draw were consistent throughout, with plenty of smoke output and a firm ash.
This isn’t an everyday smoke for everyone, but it works surprisingly well as a change of pace. Pair it with a bourbon or even a cold root beer, and it becomes a laid-back treat for a cookout, camping trip, or a summer evening on the porch.
Final Verdict:
Fun without being a novelty. Solid construction, bold flavor, and just enough BBQ influence to make it interesting.
Rating: 8.3/10 – Worth trying at least once if you like Diesel’s usual power and want something a little different without sacrificing quality.
