Dapper El Borracho San Andres Natural Edmundo

Smoked: Dapper El Borracho San Andres Natural Edmundo

Smoked at: West Chester, Ohio

Dapper El Borracho San Andres Natural Edmundo is a box-pressed Nicaraguan with an oily tight seamed Mexican San Andres Natural, although I would swear by the color of the wrapper it’s a Maduro. If it is natural, that answers a question I’ve had for some time. Cigars with San Andres wrappers seem to always be referred to as Maduro. I’ve often wondered if anyone ever used a non-Maduro San Andres wrapper. I have my answer. Now let’s see if I can taste a difference. The cigar band is very simple – red on white with gold trim.

Flavors: oak, earth, leather, very mild pepper, cocoa, coffee, mixed nuts (peanuts/almonds/cashews) and a taste like I’m biting into one of those Queen Anne cherry chocolates people leave around the house this time of the year – cherry, creamy, citrus and chocolate. There are hints of licorice, cinnamon and walnuts & hazelnuts in the mix. The pepper accelerates overtaking some of the sweet flavors by the final third. No bad. Just different. The retrohale has mild pepper and earthy leather aromas. It’s medium-full bodied and strength.

The draw has juat enough resistance, somewhat flaky ash that fell off twice, decent smoke output and an acceptable burn line – just a tad wavy at times.

Dapper El Borracho San Andres Natural Edmundo is a reasonably enjoyable smoke. It didn’t knock me out with Oh Wow moments, but it didn’t completely disappoint either. There are enough flavors working together here that I can recommend you give it a try. I give it a 3 on the Cigar World report card.
