Brick House Classic Churchill

Smoked: Brick House Classic Churchill

Smoked at: West Chester, Ohio

Brick House Classic Churchill is a JC Newman bonus Churchill at 7.25 X 50. This is a big cigar. Block out a good two hours. The binder and filler are Nicaraguan, and it’s covered in a rustic brown toothy sandy feeling Ecuadoran Havana Seed wrapper with lots of barely visible veins and tight seams.

Cedar, earth, leather, spice/pepper, coffee, cocoa, and a cinnamon sweetness with occasional notes of nuts, tea and fruit by the second third. The pepper takes over dominating the profile during the final third. It’s a bit too peppery for my taste by the finish. The retrohale, on the other hand, is only mildly peppery. It’s medium-full bodied and medium strength.

The draw was a little tight but acceptable after a short toothpick poke. Smoke output was on the generous side. The burn line was wavy and the ash initially fell off flaky several times. Interestingly, the ash started to hold firmly by the second third. It tapped off flaky but never dropped again on its own.

What starts out spicy ends up a bit too peppery for me. Still, I liked the Brick House Classic Churchill. Other than the heavy pepper finish, the flavors were nicely balanced. I can’t rave about it, but it was an enjoyable smoke.
