AJ Fernandez Witchdoktor Toro

Smoked: AJ Fernandez Witchdoktor Toro

Smoked at: West Chester, Ohio

AJ Fernandez Witchdoktor Toro is box-pressed using Nicaraguan filler and binder covered in a dark, slightly oily Ecuador Oscuro wrapper with some veins and seams barely popping. The band features white on black Gothic lettering “Witchdoktor,” a touch of red, a skull, and a silver border.

Wood, cabinet spices, pepper, dark chocolate, creamy vanilla & caramel, earthy leather, and mixed nuts. There are no discernible transitions and minimal complexity. Although the flavors remain consistent with no additions or changes throughout the smoke, those flavors do quite well together. It’s a medium-full bodied and strength stick with both gaining ground during the final third.

Open draw, reasonable smoke output, flaky white ash that would not hold past a half inch, and an erratic burn line leaving a notch twice.

The cigar is dark, rich and bold. Guess if you’re going to name it Witchdoktor that’s how it should taste.
