Aganorsa Leaf Anniversario Gran Robusto

Smoked: Aganorsa Leaf Anniversario Gran Robusto

Smoked at: West Chester, Ohio

I really enjoyed the corojo so it’s time to fire up the maduro version. Aganorsa Leaf Anniversario Gran Robusto is a box-pressed Nicaraguan puro with a Shade Grown Maduro wrapper with rigid tight seams and a few decent size veins throughout. The cigar features silver on grayish black primary and secondary bands with a long sleeve white footer. .The bands are essentially color inverted versions of the corojo using black instead of white backsplash.

Flavor profile: oak, earth, leather, peppery and kitchen baking spice, dark chocolate, dark roast coffee, almonds & peanuts, a toasty bread, almost poptato chip note and some creaminess. Add a cedar note to the wood, walnuts to the almonds & peanuts and puffs of licorice by the second third. It’s a medium to medium-full bodied and medium strength. The retrohale is heavy on the pepper with some wood notes. Overall, there’s a lot of flavor going on – very maduro – balanced and complex.

Nice open draw, a somewhat uneven burn line that did require a couple of touchups, solid grey ash that held well, and generous smoke production. Construction is top notch.

As has been the case with previous smokes, this Aganorsa Leaf is a very good cigar. Rack it up at 5 across the board.
