Earthy cigars have a natural, robust quality to them. Cigars with earth tasting notes are usually layered and multi-faceted. Generally speaking, earth acts as a background tasting note — a base above which more subtle flavors like spice, herbs, or even fruit can develop. Earthy cigars also have an organic sweetness to them that can be tough to explain but is easy to recognize.
Cigars with earth tasting notes are slightly more likely to be dark, but plenty of mellow and balanced cigars contain earth in their flavor profiles.
