I had the pleasure of meeting Eylin while in New Orleans at PCA this past April. This multi-talented hustler is keeping busy on the Cavalier Geneve brand with her husband Sebastian while being a mom. There is no down time for this go-getter, but when you love what you are doing, it all seems worth it. Check out what Eylin had to say about her experience in the cigar industry and with Cavalier Geneve.

An Interview with Eylin Decoppet from Cavalier Cigars

Jean: What a pleasure it was to meet you at PCA! I am excited to feature you in our Women Crush Wednesday article. How has life been treating you since PCA?

Eylin: The pleasure was truly mine; it was lovely meeting you at PCA this year. Thank you for taking the time to stop by. Life has been a bit of a rollercoaster lately, filled with challenges and lots of work, but I remain grateful through it all.

Jean: Did you have fun at PCA?

Eylin: I did! It is always great time meeting so many amazing people in the industry and spending time with retailers, manufacturers, and others.

Jean: Ok, so now we will get into the nitty gritty. Tell us about your role within the Cavalier Geneve Cigar Company and how it all got started.

Eylin: I’m like a Swiss Army knife, I do a bit of everything. I can't be boxed into a specific role. Since we’re not a large corporation, I try to be involved in everything I can and get my hands into as much as I can and constantly work to move the needle where it is needed.

Jean: How long have you been doing this?

Eylin: Officially since 2015.

Jean: Do you find it complicated to work alongside your husband on a daily basis?

Eylin: It’s really not as easy as it might seem from the outside. But I believe the synergy between the two of us is very strong, we each focus on different things, and we try to stay in harmony with what we do. At the end of the day, we come together to catch up and stay aligned.

Jean: You and your family have moved around quite a bit; can you tell the audience a bit about how you ended up where you are now?

Eylin: That’s right, we have had to move around quite a bit after our daughter was born. For now, we’re based in Honduras, close to our operations and my family. However, over the last few years, we lived twice in Dallas, once in Switzerland, and now in Honduras.

Jean: What would you say is your most proud moment with Cavalier?

Eylin: I think one of my proudest moments was when we decided to move to the U.S. and basically start the brand from scratch over here again. We already had some presence in Europe at the time, but nothing left in the US. We were scared, but that leap of faith is a big part of what brought us to where we are today.

Jean: What are you looking forward to the most with the company?

Eylin: To keep growing and growing, I want people to know us and see that we’re not just another company. We pour our heart, sweat, and tears into everything we do, and I hope more people get the chance to truly discover who we are.

Jean: Can you tell us about this year’s launches?

Eylin: This year, we have several launches lined up. The most recent was Project Broadleaf, which we introduced at PCA. It actually is a four teared launch that will now repeat every year. The first batch shipped right after PCA, the following is now shipping in June, the third is scheduled for September and the forth for November. The entire line is built around CT Broadleaf wrapper grown in the US, that we proudly processed and is around 5 years old. Up next is this year’s Limited Edition, which has been highly anticipated. Every year, we do our best to come up with a very special project, a one time release, truly unique and something that we can’t replicate the following years. The LE2025 is scheduled for July as it usually always is. We’re also planning another Limited Release, which is the annual tweaked version, limited production of one of our core lines. Very important to us as it is a way for us to refocus on what Cavalier lives on. Core. We expect this year’s LR to ship around November.

Jean: Do you have any partnerships/collaborations that you want to call out

Eylin: We do not currently have anything on that front.

Jean: What is your favorite cigar right now?

Eylin: Right now, I'm obsessed with Cavalier’s 2025 Limited Edition, you’re going to love it.

Jean: When you smoke, what do you like to pair with your cigar, and do you have a time of day that you prefer to enjoy a stick?

Eylin: I really enjoy watching the sunset with a cigar, there’s something incredibly relaxing about it. It might sound a bit unusual, but I usually pair it with water. I don’t often drink alcohol with my cigars, but when I do, I’ll go for a cocktail like a Negroni or something along those lines.

Jean: Music is something that really tells us about people’s personalities, so we have been asking our interviewees lately what they like to listen to while smoking a cigar. What’s on your playlist for your smoking sessions?

Eylin: Uhh Jean, you’re hitting me with a tough question! My taste is all over the place, At my core, I’m a metalhead, and lately I’ve been listening to Amenra a lot.

Jean: Sounds great! I want to thank you for taking the time to chat with us and answer these questions.

Eylin: Thank you for doing what you do! Thank you for having me
