Quotes Edited

We all run into quotes from time to time that hit us hard - good or bad. Sometimes those quotes stick with us a lifetime, sometimes just privately.

I'd like to carryover a thread that we had running for several years on the prior CW site, so we can capture those quotes, and share them.

I'll start.

Ronald Reagan was my Commander in Chief when I was in the Marine Corps (#SemperFi !), so I've kept a strong affinity to him as a leader and as our President. I use one of his quotes regarding his appreciation for the Marine Corps in my personal and corporate email signature blocks.

Here's another one of his that I saw today:

Love this one!!

Quote: "Socialism only works in two places: Heaven where they don't need it and Hell where they already have it."

\~Ronald Reagan (President, USA)

"Everything I do is etched in mud."

This was a statement made by Leland Sklar, a Nashville session musician, a bassist. It was made during a particularly ponderous 3-week recording session with James Taylor. They were writing and recording the song "Doctor My Eyes".

I think I’ve heard something similar, something like, “All men’s greatness are folly, but clay in the Master’s hands.”

I was perusing the old CW2.0 Quotes thread. 568 pages, and 4536 quotes & comments!!! (https://old.cigarworld.com/forums/lounge/show/19544?start=4536)

For those Legacies that remember, I started that thread as way to share the quotes I shared with my own family. Working for DoD, I started traveling just before our kids started high school. To stay connected while I was away, I started sending them quotes every day. These were quotes that made me think, or get the feels, or made me think of them. Sometimes they were quotes for one or all of them, but they were opportunities to share a moment together even when far apart.

I continued this almost every day, whether I was home or away, throughout their high school and then their college years.

And after this thread got going, I started also sharing the quotes you all shared here, too.

Unfortunately, I don’t see a way to capture all those wonderful quotes here in CW3.0.

That's too bad. There were some gems in the old format. I was unaware of how this got started. All I remember is that it just showed up one day. Did not know the reason for its presence. Thanks for sharing.

I heard one recently that caught my attention. I might have heard it before but maybe it was the delivery. Someone from the world health org said in reference to the corona virus- “if you fail to plan, you are planning to fail”
