We’re celebrating National Tequila Day today –– salud! Naturally, we’re pairing our favorite tequila drinks with some of the finest cigars you’ll find on the market today. As you might have guessed, partnering cigars with tequila's unique agave spice can be tricky. Not to worry, though. No matter what kind of tequila and what kind of cigars you prefer, we’ll fix you up with a recommendation that’s sure to hit the spot.

CAO Gold –– Blanco

What could pair better with silver (blanco) tequila than a gold cigar? CAO Gold is an industry standard for a reason, and its smooth, balanced, and easy-smoking profile is ideal for enjoying with a nice glass of blanco tequila on the rocks. This combo is perfect for elevating a casual evening celebration.

Plasencia 1865 Alma Fuerta –– Reposado

If reposado tequilas are more your speed, consider reaching for a bold and rich smoke like the Plasencia 1865 Alma Fuerte. Critically acclaimed and packed with cocoa, leather, and spicy notes, this cigar is strong enough to stand up to the vibrant flavors of a quality reposado but subtle enough not to overpower them. A real winner for just about any occasion.

Cohiba Riviera –– Añejo

Okay, let’s say you want to break out the good stuff. Tonight’s the night you’re going to have that renowned Añejo tequila on your shelf, and you need a cigar that’s fit for the moment. Look no further than Cohiba Riviera. Not only is Cohiba Riviera the only Cohiba to feature a Mexican San Andrés wrapper, but this ultra-refined cigar delivers an amazing, medium-bodied smoking experience. Treat yourself with this exquisite smoke.

Rocky Patel Number 6 –– Mixed Drink

One of the beautiful things about tequila is that it lends itself so well to tasty and iconic cocktails like the Margarita and the Paloma. The Rocky Patel Number 6 is a fantastic option if you go this route because 1) it’s medium-bodied and wrapped with Honduran Corojo, and 2) it’s versatile enough to be enjoyed with various drinks. Having a few of these in your humidor is never a bad idea –– particularly if you love tequila!

Partagas (Classic) –– Mexican Mule

Last but not least, if you’re a fan of the Mexican Mule cocktail, then you’ve got to try pairing it with Partagas classic at least once. This is a sure-fire winning combo on National Tequila Day or the other 364 days of the year. Be sure to check out this pairing for our next Roast and Toast session on our social channels, and let us know how you like it!
