Smoked: Caldwell Lost & Found One Hit Wonder

Caldwell Lost & Found One Hit Wonder corona is a Dominican puro per Caldwell. The flavors are minimal - earth, hay, pepper, bread, and a faint hint of leather. Waited for more flavors, but none arrived. There is almost no identifiable wood flavor. It's not oak or cedar or hickory. There is a taste somewhere between charred wood and charcoal. The cigar is harsh by the second third. It parched the back of my palate.

Did Caldwell use some leftover tobacco from their Bangers sticks? That’s the only Caldwell I can rate below the LNF One Hit Wonder. Maybe the flip side is better. What a shame to waste a beautiful day on this cigar. Meh…and I’m being generous. The only good news to report is the construction was pretty good. Nice draw, decent smoke output, fairly even burn line, needed only one touchup.

    I find that Caldwells are hit or miss. I love Long live The Queen. Hated The King is Dead.

      That's my experience too with Caldwells. When they "hit" they're terrific like the Long Live The Queen Ace of Hearts and 22 Minutes to Midnight Connecticut Radiante (I do like the King is Dead and Long Live The King). When they're bad and that's in the Lost & Founds, they're dreadful. There are exceptions. The Lost & Found Pepper Cream Soda, One Night Stand, Swedish Delight and several others are quite good.

      Ok. I’m going to admit I put my foot in my mouth. I tried The King is Dead, this time after one month in the humidor. It still wasn’t good…..it was Great. I finally learned not to judge a cigar without letting it age properly.

      Keep an eye on C Page. Every few months, they offer 5-packs of Caldwell Lost & Founds. Sometimes the Scoobys are in there. C Direct has them, I think.

      Just checked. Cigars Direct has the 2017 Scooby Snax singles and 5 packs. The 2015s are sold out.
