Barrel Aged by Karl Malone. This La Auroroa features Ecuadorian wrapper and binder and fillers are from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Peru. #LeeMack912 reviews

The newest cigar from La Aurora pays tribute to Karl Malone, the retired Utah Jazz NBA superstar. The binder and filler tobacco for this cigar were aged in rum barrels for 6 months, giving the cigar a distinct wood and spice profile that only barrel aging provides.

A year after it was shown off, Karl Malone’s cigar will finally be released.

At the 2018 IPCPR Convention & Trade Show, the NBA Hall of Famer showed off his debut cigar line—made by La Aurora—and as this year’s trade show approaches the cigar is finally nearing approach.

Miami Cigar & Co., the distributor for both La Aurora and Malone’s brand, has announced that it expects to begin shipping at next month’s trade show.

The debut release is called by Barrel Aged by Karl Malone and as the name implies uses tobacco that was aged in barrels. The tobaccos—with the exception of the wrapper—were aged for six months in rum barrels, aged for six years using traditional methods and then aged for another six months in barrels.

Both the wrapper and binder are from Ecuador while the fillers are from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Peru.

It’s offered in four sizes.
