Smoked: Caldwell Blind Man’s Bluff Connecticut

Smoked at: West Chester, Ohio

Caldwell Blind Man’s Bluff Connecticut is the third BMB I’ve tried – after the maduro and Habano. The wrapper is a smooth brown Ecuadoran Connecticut with veins so small they’d drive a phlebotomist nuts. It has a soft feel with some oil when gently squeezed.

Flavors: cedar, spice (on the sweet side), pepper, hay/grass, vanilla, dried fruit and mixed nuts like a hazelnut, pistachio and cashew taste. The nuts and pepper are very pronounced on the retrohale. There are also notes of bread, floral and leather off and on.

The construction is generally fine. There’s a slightly uneven burn line at times but no touchups required. The solid grey & white ash holds well. Score it a very good open cool draw and a decent volume of smoke. It’s a medium body, medium strength stick.

“We own the night” is handwritten on the band. Maybe. But I’d rate the Blind Man’s Bluff Connecticut an excellent morning coffee cigar. Hard to give it a 5, but it’s definitely a 4 rated smoke.
