Cigar Reviewed: Montecristo Epic

Smoked at: Carolins

(Disclaimer, this is not a Montecristo Epic. It is an Epic Maduro. Epic Cigars is a different company trademarked in 2010. I typed Epic into this review form and the auto complete function added Montecristo. I wasn't able to edit it.) Review: I smoked another Epic cigar that I received on promotion. This one was an Epic Maduro that I paired with an oatmeal stout. The Epic Maduro has a nice dark brown Maduro wrapper that is smooth and oily. It sports a black, silver and red double band. Cold draw is rich with sweet tobacco. I decided to v-cut this with my Colibri cutter. On light up, I got heavy dose of dark chocolate, leather, and earth with a little natural sweetness. With a Brazilian wrapper, a Camoroon binder, and a Dominican/Nicaraguan filler, this cigar has a lot of well blended flavors that are not just the same old spice and pepper. Its a nice, medium to full bodied and flavorful smoke. The flavor profile remained pretty much the same throughout the whole smoke. The cigar burned with a long grayish ash, but burned a bit unevenly and needed touching up a couple of times. The draw was perfect. I like this cigar. It's a simple, enjoyable smoke with a great Maduro flavor. I liked it much better than the Epic La Rubia from this same promotion that I tried and reviewed weeks ago.
