# Deep Dive: Liga Privada

If you’re familiar with the cigar powerhouse Drew Estate, you’ve most likely heard of, or maybe even smoked, one of their infused cigars like ACID, Java or Tabak. Well, this deep dive isn’t about any of Drew Estate’s flavored cigars. No no no. It’s about their breakthrough and ascent into super premium, top-shelf cigars with the brand none other than Liga Privada.

### **The Liga Privada backstory**

It would take over 6 months and more than 50 blend variations before Liga No. 9, a cigar that was never intended for sale, would be demanded by the cigar market. Liga Privada, otherwise known as the private league, had its beginnings in the summer of ‘05. According to then President Steve Saka, “the basic goal was to simply have the factory make - *me* - a cigar I would like to smoke and would feel confident in handing out to my industry peers.”

Before long, everyone in the industry that he’d handed cigars out to wanted more, and they wanted them badly. Today, Liga Privada produces some of the most popular cigars on the market. Especially among high end brick and mortar cigar retailers.

### **Is Liga Privada a good cigar?**

Every Liga Privada cigar is excellent. They’re made with rare tobaccos, use distinct primings as well as meticulous tobacco aging techniques to create what some would say Drew Estates flagship line.

### **Where are Liga Privada cigars made?**

Liga Privada cigars are crafted at the Drew Estate factory in Esteli, Nicaragua.

Love me some Liga! T52, No. 9, Papas Fritas... uh, well.. ok all of them! They are exceptional sticks. Just wish I could afford to keep them in regular rotation!
