## Sweet & Mellow

I honestly can’t remember the last time I had a Macanudo, so I was eager to try this one out. And as I suspected by the name, it was pleasantly, yet only mildly sweet. The wrapper aroma smelled a bit saccharine, but I was thankful, since I don’t care much for over done flavor in my smokes.

After lighting, it drew and tasted smooth and (oddly enough) had a hint of fine pipe tobacco when I let just a tiny bit of smoke out thru my nose. It burned well, although the wrapper shriveled a little near the end — could have been exasperated by the windy conditions.

I typically prefer a spicy and earthy Maduro smoke, but this was still somehow not only full-bodied, but also mellow, no doubt due to its barber pole mix of light-dark wrapper infused with Nicaraguan filler.

Enjoyed on a beautiful April afternoon with a Straight to Ale Brother Joseph Belgian Style Dubbel Ale while listening to Tim Hart’s Milling the Wind. Next time, I’m pairing this guy with an espresso — and there *will* be a next time!
