The Virtues of Home Life in a Socially Distant Society Edited

Catchy title eh?

Many of us may be confined to home with kids or taking care of someone. Others, like myself, are confined to working from home for the next 2 or 3 weeks. So I thought this thread might be good to share your experiences.

I actually work from home 2 days a week already, so this experience isn’t anything new. But the duration takes this to a whole new level! I really need to polish my video meeting skills!

So I’ll start with excellent coffee each morning! I learned years ago how to brew espresso and make cappuccinos and lattes on my stove. Throw in french press and drip and I’m a happy camper in the morn. When I have to be in the office, it’s drip due to time constraint. But now, having the time each morning to brew the good stuff? What a treat!

I find myself eating the entire loaf of bread, including heals, just to extend my need to go out in public to buy more. The birds will just have to go hungry!

Thank goodness for wide screen TVs to capture two news anchors observing social distancing on air.

It's also apparent that news anchors have lost the services of professional hair & makeup and must now DIY. Yikes!

I'm certainly enjoying the low cost fuel bill by not having to drive in to work. Also less commuter stress due to nonexistent traffic.

A good reason to distance from the loving wife, grin, so its warm and spring , my solution of a fun solitary hobby is Moto riding. work gloves for the gas pump and snacks from home for a grassy rest stop!

Week 1 of telework. I think I have a new found appreciation for what my wife does to clean up after me.

As JeffK mentioned, the ability to now have a cigar while you work. That's cool! Tomorrow's Friday...sounds like a plan. Of course I would need something cold to go with my cigar.

Yet another positive I have discovered is the joy of once a week trash/recycle pickup. What makes that so special? How many times have you tossed papers away at the office? Then next day you needed something back but all the office trash was discarded by the cleaning crew. With weekly pickup, I have a longer grace period to retrieve something if tossed by mistake!

I’m off this week, too. Currently scheduled to return next week, but boss says everyone needs to stay flexible. So, doing taxes, & other Honey Dos.

Yeah this has been an interesting week. Too rainy to work outside though.

I assume you can work in a cigar or two while you work? Almost make me want to un-retire.

I do enjoy a nice French press.
